The linked page goes on at length about a couple positions I would argue are not necessarily conservative positions. We all have our own pet lists of issues, after all. For example, drilling in ANWR is not a conservative versus liberal position. It's just "a" position. (The debate about drilling there is older than many realize and if we'd have done it when very first suggested, we wouldn't be having this debate because the oil would have been long since tapped out.) Now, respecting a person's essential right to exist or arguing for preserving various Constitutional rights is more where I believe a conservative "comes from."
I believe a conservative is someone who favors limited government, respects individual freedom and personal responsibility, and who recognizes that we all have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
