The Electric Company!

You know what it is. The Electric Company was the precursor to Sesame Street, and was far superior in every way shape and form.

I now have the box set, and Jonathan, Matthew, Caroline, and Daddy are all watching.

It's a wild Friday night! Wooo!

UPDATE: Mitch's Wife has informed me that since Sesame Street first aired in 1969, and the Electric Company started in 1971... that I am a moron for getting the chronological order wrong.

Perhaps, but the Electric Comany is still the better of the two, hands down!

Shawn- Since Sesame Street debuted in 1969 and Electric Company debuted in 1971, calling Electric Company a "precursor" to Sesame Street would be incorrect.

Now, all of my kids watched Sesame Street and they could ALL put two items in chronolgical order by the time they were five. Makes a pretty strong case against Electric Company being "far superior in every way shape and form."

What? Really?

I never knew that...

Well... off to update the post then!

I'm a bit older than you, and both shows came out right when I was their "target audience". I loved them both, but have to admit that there was something cool about "Easy Reader." Maybe it was the way he drove Miss Daisy to the Piggly-Wiggly. Maybe it was the wisdom that he shared with Andy Duphrene. But he was the best.

See, all I got were re-runs. It was Electric Company that supposedly taught me how to read.

It is cool to see my four-year old and two-year old take it in too!

Just because it was YOUR favorite doesn't mean it was first. You watched Electric Company and then Sesame Street every day for what felt like YEARS on end. I caught myself singing along to some of the stuff when the kids were watching it the other night. I can picture you and your brothers watching it in Germany. Thirty minutes of guaranteed peace and quiet for mom!!!! Love you.
