- Got rid of my TV a year ago - a Lenten thing - that kept growing. I thought I couldn't live without College BBall tournament (I survived) without NFL (I survived), and without Winter Olympics (I survived). Haven't seen C-Span (I survived), CNN, MSNBC, or Fox, nor network news in 13 mos (I've thrived). I do miss football pretty much, ... but honestly, after a week or two, I miss NOTHING else. And at the time it was a big deal.
TV really is a bad, addictive, opiate. And that is coming from a guy who used think that Americans watch more TV than any other country in the world AND we put a man on the moon and the two were related.
I listen to XM Radio now, ... try listening to the TV news channels audio w/o the pictures and pretty faces and nice set designs, ... it is the most vapid drivel in the world. It shows how bad the nation's #1 news source really is - it's like lifting the curtain on the Wizard of Oz.
